BTC-195
Ultra Precise movement and simplicity was the design goal of the BTC-195. Zero backlash brushless motors provide extremely accurate positioning. The monocoque design is extremely compact as the multiple sensors are mounted directly to the spherical surface.
Construction is composed of molded and machined polymers and carbon fiber. The drive motors are an integral component in the structure of the unit. The ball is molded high impact low temperature thermoplastic and seamed together with stainless hardware. The unit is tied together with a rigid carbon fiber main mounting plate.
Control of the BTC-195 is by multiple methods. This can be a control stick connected via USB to a PC that is directly connected to the unit or remotely via RF data link. The control suite has a Geo-location lock–on positioning feature that locks on a ground GPS position no matter the attitude or altitude of the vehicle. Additionally this can be by edge detection on a stationary object or a mobile target. With slew rates greater than 120° per second tracking a n object at fixed wing speeds is an easy task. Tracking is facilitated by closed loop 2 axis stabilization (pitch and yaw) and includes a slip-ring with positional and absolute encoders for continuous azimuth rotation. Elevation range of motion can exceed 120° depending on mounting configuration.
