ZipBoard

The ZipBoard™ is a vehicle designed for human transport and for the high excitement level attained by riding a gas powered freewheeling skateboard at just 4 inches from the ground. Smooth tarmac is all that is required as the excellent traction offered by extra soft custom poly urethane wheels guide the all wood aero shaped board with ease and confidence.

The ZipBoard™ consists of a CNC machined laminated premium plywood deck, plywood seat back rest w/mount and aero carved plywood foot steered front axle tree. It uses a solid rear axle on firm skateboard like polyurethane wheels with precision bearings throughout for very low rolling resistance. Standard engine is a 36cc imported engine/gear reduction with freewheel drive unit. Controls are right hand twist grip throttle, left hand actuated single rear disk brake. Foot steering requires some practice but allows for precise control and puts all of your appendages in the loop. All of which gives a unique ride unlike any scooter, go-kart or pit bike.

In house developed and manufactured our poly on poly wheels give great feedback and very predictable performance that show little to no wear even after many hours of aggressive riding. What results when it's pushed hard with body english is a controllable slide and four wheel drifting. Gravity is the ultimate thrill as the speed builds as much as the decline.

The prototype boards were 60 inches long and featured a powerful band brake and a Honda 31cc 4 stroke engine. The custom molded 6" diameter 4" wide wheels are extra soft polyurethane. Front axle tree was CNC cut to a perfect aero shape and with an extra wide 30" track. The boards were painted with high gloss automotive finish.

ZipBoards can provide transportation around the tarmac when you are stuck out on some remote airfield testing UAV’s. They provide relaxation from a days flying and keep your motor skills sharp. Even though suburban streets with their smooth surface and sweeping cul-de sac turns would seem to be an optimal place for operation, and even though operation at night would allow the operator to sense any licensed motor vehicles in the area we have to advise you otherwise in order to escape liability. Although considered dangerous by some, in part owing to high speeds obtainable in the freewheel mode, ZipBoards are safe in the sense that they provide a high thrill to actual risk coefficient. ZipBoards are available in kit form only to qualified customers .
